  1. Ingredients:

Let nature take center stage by using strawberries, raspberries, cherries, and pomegranate in your flavor profile. Topping your raspberry buttercream-filled cupcakes with pink frosting and fresh berries helps to signal what flavor your audience will be enjoying when they take their first bite!

2. Sprinkles:

Glittery, festive and themed sprinkles turn any sweet into a treat! Sprinkles are edible confetti; you can decorate by color (red, white and pink), theme (candy lips, x’s and o’s) or just add a touch of glitter to show just how special your confections are from the very first glance.

3. Molds:

Quickly form your dessert into a heart by using a mold. Silicone molds have become increasingly popular compared to the standard rigid plastic or copper: the silicone material is flexible and you can just *pop* out your treats. Decorate standard shapes for Valentine’s Day by using red food coloring in your white chocolate or by topping your desserts with seasonal sprinkles.

4. Cutters:

Cutters (they’re not just for cookies!) are helpful when cooking with children to press and cut out themselves. Roll out cookie dough to ¼-½ inch depending on the type of cookie, or even make a sheet cake or tray of brownies and cut out basic shapes like hearts that don’t have too many intricate lines for thicker bakes.

TSP: use the ‘trim’ (i.e.: the part that you would toss if it weren’t so damn delicious) into layers in a parfait, or just to snack on during the kitchen clear-up!

5. Cupcake liners:

Even if you change nothing about your favorite recipe or decor, a cupcake liner can bring holiday cheer to your next dessert. Purchase standard colors in bulk for extra savings (red works for Valentine’s Day, USA national holidays and Christmas), or mix in cute liners with hearts for a special seasonal touch.

Wishing you a sweet Valentine’s Day, FoodFam!
